Sumatra Harimau Tiger (250g) - Coffee Cycle Roasting

The island of Sumatra in Indonesia produces some of our favorite, unique coffees. This classic wet-hulled Sumatra is a blend selection of some of the best coffees found on the island during the last crop year, and exemplifies all the qualities we love about coffees from this origin.

This lot was grown at an altitude of between 1300 and 1650 masl, and is composed of the varieties Ateng, Bor Bor, Catimor, and Timor.

Coffee in Indonesia was brought to the country by the Dutch during the time when the islands were a colony.  Indonesia, and the island of Sumatra particularly, are known for uniquely using the wet-hulled method of processing their coffee cherries.  This method tends to create coffees with the savory, earthy, rich profiles we associate with Sumatra.  The notes of sweet pipe tobacco are also a hallmark of coffees from Sumatra.  While some Sumatra coffees are dominated by that note of tobacco and savory spices, we find this coffee blend by Cafe Imports to be particularly sweet, with some subtle balancing acidity of juicy lime and raisin.  The clarity of flavors in this offering and that pronounced sweetness are what makes this coffee truly special.
